What's the big deal? Why do you keep deleting our photos?
Our species, Homo sapiens (I presume you've heard of us?), is a mammal.
Mammals 'are members of a class of air-breathing vertebrate animals characterized by the possession of hair, three middle ear bones, and mammary glands functional in mothers with young.'
Simply put, this means that, in common with other mammals we have:
- a backbone (ie. we're not spine-less)
- hair (you have some, right?),
- three tiny bones in our ears which help us to hear and give us our sense of balance (I note you seem to have lost yours?)
- breasts, which we use to feed our young.
You may have noticed that the final element on this list is only fully functional in the female of the species. However, that doesn't mean that breastfeeding is somehow a less defining characteristic of Homo sapiens. It remains key to what we are.
So you see, breastfeeding is not obscene, or offensive, or whatever else Facebook seems to be suggesting by deleting these pictures. It's simply the normal thing for a human mother and her infant to do.
That makes you the weirdos...
*THANK YOU TO ALL THE MUMS WHO FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO SHARE THEIR BREASTFEEDING PICTURES WITH OTHER MUMS.*
