Breastfeeding a Two Year Old.

Western society most often considers that breastfeeding an infant more than a few months old is something strange.

I might have thought the same way once upon a time - but I don't anymore.  My daughter was born, and I breastfed her.  Two years on, we're still doing it.  There was no 'grand plan', things just worked out this way.  I'll feed her until she is ready to stop because I believe it's best for her physically and emotionally.

My husband took this picture of us nursing today, on her second birthday.  I'm not sorry to say that I'm proud of breastfeeding her for this long.

It shouldn't be an achievement, but in today's world, it is.

  1. Good on you! I never would have imagined I'd still be breastfeeding my 3-year-old, but here we are. :-)
